It was back to running today, although the start of the infamous taper period. I still ran 6.5 miles, at a decent tempo, but my overall miles this week drops from 48 miles last week to around 38 this week (plus I have a race on Sunday, a 3 miler). My knees are real sore from the 15.5 miler this past weekend, I thought the day of rest would take away the soreness, but I guess not.
I have to find some strengthening exercises for my knees and legs overall instead of what I am just doing now if I am going to succeed at Steamtown. Maybe I just need a few days off from hard running, we’ll see after the half.
The weather is beautiful though nowadays, it makes me think back to the days in January and February when I headed out in the snow and cold to get an outdoors run in. I think about how crazy I must have looked, but you know, when you are addicted to something like this, you’ll do anything to satisfy the addiction!
