I had a good run this morning early, logging in 6+ miles on a fairly challenging course around the house. I decided that i need to start focusing on more challenging courses instead of just straight out courses, because it will help me overall. I hate hills, but I know how much I need them for the upcoming races, plus for the overall additional fitness that hill work does for you. So I won’t complain (at least now).
The bike that I noted I acquired over the weekend turns out to be too small for me, I look TOO BIG on it, guess its a kids bike, oh well. I felt the effects of the monday night lifting, which i’ll do again tonight in that my arms are sore, my chest and stomach is sore as well, so I know I hit the muscle groups that I wanted to. It’ll be rough tonight since i’m sore, but it can only get better from here. I’m also doing a better job stretching too so that I can stay loose. Thats one thing that I have not done well in the last 6 months, so I need to improve there.
My title for this post references the weather, which i’m happy to say has finally broken in here in the northeast. It was cool Monday morning, but yesterday it was 51 degrees, today it was 65 degrees (these are morning lows when i’m out running), so I think i’m over the worst right now. I remembered this morning as I went out in a sleeveless shirt and short, the days when I had multiple layers on in the morning for that run, man, those days sucked. But overall it made me stronger and got me through when I needed to.
Its almost rest time, this weekend I have the Valley Great 8 race (8 miler), then i’ll do probably 6 miles on Sunday … yep, no long run this weekend. I feel I need the break from the long run for a weekend before I gear it up for Steamtown. I did get the first email confirming my entry to the Steamtown marathon, which means that the humorous emails will start coming shortly. Apparently the marathon is at 285 people already … should be a good one!
