Time for a rest

I’ve completed the first 4-day running cycle that i’ve had in a week and a half due to the neuroma in my foot. The foot pain hasn’t been as bad, the metatarsal pads do work well, although I am still icing it, using NAID’s and making some slight adjustments to my training. I expect to get out a 10-11 miler on Saturday morning just for good measure for the Diamond run next Thursday.

I made the hotel reservations for the Ocean Drive marathon … we’ll be at the host hotel, the Montego Bay resort, for two nights .. I got a pretty good deal, a full ocean view family suite for the night before and the night after the marathon. I know I won’t want to drive home after running a marathon, so its best to just stay put, plus it will give us some time on the beach and all as well (even though its only March).

I’ve only got 3 days left under the 18-week training starts for that marathon. I’m looking forward to it, because I have lost some of my aerobic ability and have started to put weight back on again. I never really made the drop off in food consumption like I probably should have after the marathon, and its starting to catch up with me. It will be weird next week only running 4 days and cross-training for 2, but the first mesocycle in Pfitz’s plan is all about endurance, so its about longer runs, with extra effort at the ends of them. We’ll do that for a few weeks and then move on to the next. I also won’t be putting up my actual training schedule this time around since I am using the full Pfitz plan from his book “Advanced Marathoning”. I’d be afraid that people would copy it and use it, when you really need to understand the training and why you are doing what .. plus, I paid for the book, you should too.

Tomorrow is my rest day thankfully, i’ve been going strong for 4 days now, so I need the rest. its a busy weekend and all, because its the week before a holiday, so I will enjoy it as best as I can!
