So far this week has been pretty decent for training, the weather hasn’t been terribly bad despite what they had forecast. Tuesday was supposed to be snow in the morning, but it never showed up (which i’m not upset about). It was unfortunate though because i didn’t have to do my 12 miler on Monday morning instead of doing it Tuesday, however I would rather be safe than sorry to make sure I can get the run in. Even the temperatures weren’t that bad (or maybe i’m just getting used to it), and I actually got to see a beautiful sunrise as well on Wednesday morning. It kind of makes the whole run worth it when you’re heading home with a bright pink sky behind cirrus clouds, its really a remarkable sight (like the picture I posted .. no, that wasn’t the sunrise I saw, its just a picture).
For some reason I was under the impression that my head cold had pretty much done its course with me at the end of last weekend, but it feels like its coming back. I have the post-nasal drip feeling in my throat again, along with it being slightly sore and i just overall feel like crap. I’m not stuffed up too bad this time, but its been rough sleeping (which might be contributing to the feeling like crap part). My insomnia from weeks back has now been replaced by waking up dried out totally each night .. I mean my mouth, my nose, etc are just totally DRY, I mean DRY, really DRY .. its so bad I have to keep water next to me when I sleep for when i wake up. I just hope this cold doesn’t last and finally goes away … worst part is if it screws up my weekend.
As far as training itself goes, I’m up past 33 miles already this week, with the hope being that I get a 20 miler plus 12 miles on hills this weekend .. it seems like the weather won’t be too bad this weekend, so i’m hopeful it’ll hold out and not totally frigid. I’ve definitely picked up the pace this entire week so far, and even had a decent speed workout this morning keeping my 800’s at just under 3:50/lap, so things are going well with training as long as I keep the motto .. NO EXCUSES! I really didn’t feel like even running today, but I got out there ..
So thats about it .. heading to get some rest before the Olympics come on tonight .. a bigger update this weekend.
