I was recently inspired by #LinkedInEnthusiast Clarice Lin who provided directions on how to get your historical data from LinkedIn so you can measure your engagement.
Her instructions to do this are in her post: http://goo.gl/6RgUcM
My goal was to determine my engagement, but also to find my common theme in my comments over the past few weeks.
I was happy to see that I was well engaged, and my theme turned out to be consistent with who I feel I am as these were were the most common words I use when I comment:
- people
- more
- being
- great
- help
- true
- others
- positive
- business
- value
I thought that I would make a quick “word cloud” with the results to highlight “The Real Me” on LinkedIn …
Here’s what I did:
- Use Clarice’s instructions in her post above to get your data
- When you get the second email, extract the comments file from the ZIP
- Delete the first 4 columns from the file and save it as something else
- Go to wordclouds.com, upload the modified comments file
- Delete the most common words in the file after you upload, like “the”, “a”, “this”, “then” which only takes a few minutes
- Generate your word cloud
What do you think your most commonly used words are? Post yours and tag it #TheRealMe
