Even though i am in the first week of tapering for the half-marathon in Allentown, I still gave myself a long run today equivalent to what i’ll race next week (13.1 miles). The part that sucked is that I had to run it on the treadmill due to downpours today. I got my first case of ‘chapped nipples’, yeah, funny, I know, but I didn’t think I could get them inside, but my shirt was soaked and rubbing up against them and they were actually bleeding.

Surprisingly, my legs don’t hurt as bad as they did last week after the 15.5 miles, or the week before when I did 13 for the first time. They are sore, but not real bad, at least I can walk. I wanted to do the additional distance because I slacked a bit this week with being sick and all, and needed to boost my confidence. I’ll do a speed workout tomorrow when I run the River Run in Wilkes-barre, should be able to do it in 22 to 23 minutes (or better I hope). Then from there, its 5,4,3,3 and 2 1/2 on Saturday before the race …. lots of pasta this week!!!
