This is the second entry i’ve posted today, however I felt the need to state that the fact i’m injured has finally set in. I will be taking the weekend off from doing ANYTHING, and pickup on Monday with a scaled down training for Steamtown. I will more than likely NOT run the Fairfield half-marathon on the 25th, unless I make some kind of miraculous recovery. Its only 3 weeks off and I haven’t had a long (a real long) run in over 3 weeks now. I ran 9 last Sat., then 7 the week before. I just think that I am running the risk of REALLY hurting myself and destroying my chances of running Steamtown (or seriously effecting my training for it). I also really want to run the last leg of the triathlon in August, so I have to start preparing now. I feel also that I am going to scale down the training miles a little as well. I worked Hal Higdon’s plan up a little bit, however I think that I will still hit the goal miles, just do it a little more wise. I worked up the beginning miles because of the half-marathon, but i’m not going to care about that….
Regardless, I got 3.25 miles in today and the hamstring was sore, I really shouldn’t have done it. It feels okay after the fact, and even now as I write this. I’m going to continue the heat, the rub, the stretching and everything, just going to stay away from working out until Monday, and even then, thats a cross-train, not a run.
