I’ve come off a pretty good week of running without feeling fatigue, and I managed to push the miles today to a 17-mile long run, longest so far, however I did die at about mile 16 and was forced to start walking a few times in between running. I felt the fatigue come on at about mile 13, which is better than where I had an issue last week at mile 9. I managed to run through the fatigue pretty good and the benefit this week was that I didn’t have any hills to worry about since I was doing the D&L Trail, which I really enjoy.
It was still quite warm today, and the most embarrassing part was that I was wearing my new Under Armour shirts (in white), and my nipples ended up bleeding. Where it got embarrassing was that I was running past Sand Island in Bethlehem, where there must have been a race, or a walk or something going on where there were tons of people hanging out on my way back through to Allentown. I’m thinking that people are looking at me because i’m so fit and going the distance (yeah right), but here they were looking at the blood down the front of my shirt … it was bad.
I also thought I saw Rashawn Ross (plays trumpet on the road for Dave Matthews Band) fishing in the canal, but I was pretty foggy by that point and may have been hallucinating.
Speaking of Dave Matthews band, they’re summer tour has started and I can’t wait to load up my ipod with new music from their new album Big Whiskey and the Groo Grux Kind and from the tour itself. Sirius/XM radio is also dedicating Channel 17, Jam On, to them for a week starting Monday at noon, good thing I have the Stilleto 100 to record it all to listen to when i’m out running …
Anyway, i’m hopeful i’ll recover quicker than last week .. i’m going to start the protein shake regime as well in the mornings when I go to work. I’ve found that by eating so much cereal, i’ve seriously cut back on the amount of protein in my diet, hopefully it will do the trick …
10 miles scheduled for tomorrow, hopefully we can keep the tempo pace i’ve been training at … more to come!
