Just wanted to share a few quick thoughts on today’s race .. I kept my pace, stayed fueled and hydrated and turned out to have a great day. A 3:55 finish time today is the best time i’ve run in the past 2 years, so the “advanced marathon” training this summer did pay off.

One thing that I took note of during the race which may have helped is that the course was flat, extremely flat .. the race profile didn’t do it any justice as I barely felt a real incline anywhere during the race. I was preparing for a much more challenging course …

The volunteers were phenomenal, crowd support was more than I expected for a race along a canal in the woods and the post race had CHOCOLATE MILK, wow, thats a first and really hit the spot… I met some great people from across the northeast, how could you ask for anything more??? Its funny that I just finished reading an article about how good chocolate milk is for you after an intense workout…

Finishes like today are the reason why I continued running marathons as long as I have .. I’ve got that feeling again, 2 more races to go.

Full post-race report hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday…
