I wrote the other day about how thrilled I was that spring had finally got here, but it seems more like winter over the past 3 days than it has for the last 4 weeks. Thankfully the last few days of training have been indoors, except for Monday morning when I headed out for a 5 mile run after early swim .. it was raining and just downright cold. I got through it without any issues, but it was rough.

Yesterdays circuit workout wasn’t what I expected either, Stacey was out sick, so the instructor who stepped in for her still did some circuit stuff, but the intensity and endurance just wasn’t there. I was disappointed, but I hope to make it up this weekend.

Today I beat myself up with a speed workout in the pool than an hour of spinning with a different instructor since Stacey was still sick. This pool workout was crazy .. I did a warmup, then did 12×25 meter sprints (hard with a decent recovery). When they were done, I did another 10×50 meter sprints, which just totally killed me. I was thinking to myself when i put the workout together (from an online source) that this would be an easy workout, but it really wasn’t. I was quite tired about halfway through. The good part about doing drills like this though is that it breaks up the monotony of just swimming laps, which was getting kind of boring…. so mission accomplished. I just need to find different and unique drills to do.

Tomorrow is my rest day, I hope to sleep in … but we’ll see how that works out.. I get up really early too many days anymore that my body just knows to wake up at 4:30am. Well, I’m hoping the weekend warms up a bit as I have another long bike ride scheduled for Saturday.
