I’ve completed my week of travel here in ottawa canada, can’t wait to get back home. I had to run on this crappy treadmill down in the fitness room here at the hotel. It was better than nothing I guess. Its a little cooler up here, and its not really possible to run outside since i’m in the downtown of the city (doesn’t facilitate runners). Regardless, I got my runs in for the week despite being away, and thats all that is important.
I added a little speedwork in today, mixing in quarter mile sprints (400’s), for which I didn’t react well. I can honestly tell that I am not in the shape I was previously (i remember when doing Steamtown, they were easy!) Anyway, I know i have to work for the goal, and continue doing what i’m doing to make a GOOD appearance at the Run for the Red, which I feel I can better my 4:25 time from the Ocean Drive marathon. I do realize that the wind/weather had a big impact on my poor performance last Sunday, but some of it had to do with the fact that I just let myself slack too much … and I paid for it.
Today is just a long day of traveling, sitting in airports, sitting on planes … I won’t get back until this evening actually, so that kind of sucks. I think that my sinus infection has flared back down again, my doctor gave me some advice to follow (no script though), so we’ll see how that works. My ear has cleared up, and my throat is not as sore, so thats good. I’m just tired, just really tired, I have to spend more time relaxing I think ….
I was hoping to get in a longer run tomorrow, on the upwards of 15 miles or so, to begin working on that longer distance again. If I focus this training properly, last week could be considered a long run, this week a step back week, and then next week we pickup the mileage again (doing 20 miler, then 22 the next week).
Anyway, farewell from Canada.
