A single word can create shame and guilt.
This simple word is such a part of our consciousness that we would have trouble not having it in our vocabulary.
It is the word “should” .. as in “I should have known better” or “I shouldn’t have done that”.
This word causes us to reinforce negativity, because it challenges our autonomy which makes us uncomfortable and implies that there is no choice.
It also implies that we are not accepting reality and are talking about things we wish were so, but aren’t.
Instead, accept reality, focus on the benefits and turn the “should” into a positive.
“I know better” … or … “I will not do that”
