It’s time to set our goals.
And then develop a plan on how we are going to achieve them.
Usually the planning process is more challenging than the actual goal setting itself
But it is a critical part of ensuring we can actually achieve our goals.
I remember the planning process back in corporate, it was long, tedious & nobody enjoyed it.
We as leaders would provide the goals, then ask employees to develop the plan.
One approach to planning is to start with the deliverable and then work backwards.
And ask yourself what needs to happen so you can deliver what is expected.
This helps us think critically about what success looks like.
We should also anticipate and plan for challenges so we can be ready to face them.
Because it’s unlikely that we will not have any roadblocks along the way.
Be sure to accurately estimate the time and resources needed to complete each task.
Because missed deadlines will cause you to be unproductive & become frustrated.
And don’t be afraid to identify and face the “don’t know what you don’t knows” along the way.
Goal planning is such a valuable piece of finding success in what we do.
And remember that a goal without a plan is just a dream.
