
Self-Doubt
Highly accomplished people in all walks of life feel it.
It can make us feel overwhelmed, think we are not up to the task, and question our probability of success.
Research shows that self-doubt can significantly diminish our performance in business and in life.
How can we counter the negative impacts of self-doubt?
First, recognize and acknowledge the fact that self-doubt impacts everyone, including the highly successful people in every area of life. This includes CEO’s, successful entrepreneurs and even Albert Einstein
Second, proactively and selectively reach out to someone who can offer solid counsel and support. Effective counsel and support can be the fastest way to move past self-doubt and its limiting impacts.
Third, examine the basis for the self-doubt and actively counter those irrational self-doubting thoughts. Most self-doubting beliefs were learned during our childhood through our young adult years.
Fourth, Intentionally create a positive distraction that will help you to relax and gain perspective. Do something that takes our mind off of our current thoughts, like changing environment, read a book or do an activity to reset your thinking.
and lastly, get into action by taking a first step. When we hear the internal voices telling us we can’t do something, just pushing ahead will silence or at least lessen the thoughts that are holding us back.
