running on empty

I have hit my first low in training, as one can expect from my posts so far this week, in that I feel burnt out. I think the constant getting up early is catching up with me as I feel terrible, and no run feels good. I am breaking the monotony a little by taking today off (thursday) from running, which allowed me to sleep in a little (to about 5:20 instead of up at 4:45), and since I took tomorrow off from work, i can sleep in tomorrow as well. I’ll get todays planned run in tomorrow and then take an easier run on Saturday prior to the trip to Fairfield, Connecticut on Saturday for the Fairfield half on Sunday morning. This helps break things up a bit, I think i’m stuck in a rut of sorts ….

My back has stopped bothering me, and my groin is okay as well. I really needed to take this day off, I fell asleep so early last night it was disgusting. I did well on my 9 miler yesterday morning, but just dragged through the day … it was awful. I did get the first ‘rain’ run of the summer in .. it was raining when i first went out on Wednesday morning and it actually felt pretty good. It was real warm (tropical almost), and I ended up with no shirt on by the end.

Regardless, I hope jumbling things a bit helps me get out the rut, I also noticed that I put on a pound or two because I haven’t been faithful to my diet like I should be. I’m not writing things down and being careless ……. did I NOT learn anything from my March marathon? I have time to make it up, but its important that I get out of this rut, because it can really effect my running and my overall success in why I do what I do.
