Preparing for training again

I have slowly worked this week to get my running legs back, and have so far succeeded. I did 2 miles Sunday, 3 miles Monday, 4 miles yesterday and did 5 miles today, with no pain. My back does get sore, but doesn’t hurt (remember, there is a difference). The sports doctor explained to me that my back will be sore still for a bit because of the scar tissue that formed with the original injury. The scar tissue does not stretch as much as regular muscle does, and until I work out the scar tissue, it will be somewhat sore.

I’m thinking that I may cross train tomorrow instead of running, and then take Friday off like normal, and then attempt a longer run on Saturday (nothing crazy though). Sunday is a question-mark, not sure what I am going to do. I think that next week I can push it a little bit and prepare myself for the first week of training on the 18th … as long as my back holds out, that could work. I just have to remember not to push it.

I hate thinking that I’ll be working out on the treadmill, but it really is cold outside right now, and i’m not sure I want to freeze by going outside. I might go outside on Saturday for the run, I have my new tights and winter wear, so it may be a decent idea to do that … we’ll see.
