I woke up this morning and found something sitting on my front porch that I almost tripped on.
A phone book.
Apparently they must have been circulated through my neighborhood overnight since all my neighbors had them too.
I was surprised to see one as I haven’t even owned a landline telephone in over 10 years. And I probably haven’t seen or used a printed phone book in even longer.
I wasn’t even sure if I even wanted to bring it into my house. My 17 year old daughter barely remembers a phone having a cord, let alone even knowing what a phone book would be used for.
The technologies of today have advanced us so far ahead that one might think that a phone book has no real purpose to anyone.
But there is likely someone who still sees value in the traditional phone book or they wouldn’t print them.
I can relate because I still see value in my vinyl record collection and record player even with the digital technologies of today. And sometimes I still listen to the original Led Zeppelin IV LP when I’m feeling nostalgic.
In some way, we all have these nostalgic things in our lives … that old “thing” we still see value in and can’t get rid of.
What is that one old “thing” that you still use and can’t get rid of?
