So the much anticipated weigh-in this morning after noticing an almost 5 pound increase in weight finally happened. It was a struggle just to get the scale to work, seems my daughter was playing with it, and got one of the buttons stuck (its a digital one) …. so after struggling to get the button loose (a good shot to it), I found the battery was dead in it because it was stuck in an ‘on’ mode for much too long …. ACK! so I struggled to find a new battery (and running late now, got up 5 minutes late, had to be on the road by 5:20am and it was already 5:10 and i hadn’t had a cup of coffee yet.

Anyway, I get on the scale finally after digging for a battery and ….. BAM! 194.8 … that means an almost 5 pound loss in just a week. Now, before I celebrate by stuffing my face, some things need to be considered (5 pounds a week just isn’t natural). First, when i weighed myself last week, I just came off an indulging weekend at the beach. Second, I consider myself to be somewhat dehydrated still from the weekend. That might account for maybe a pound or two, so overall it is still successful. The question is whether I can keep it up or not.

My concerns right now as i enter the halfway point until Steamtown (and 13 weeks until Harrisburg) … 1) can I keep the weight down, 2) will I make sure that I’m eating enough to stay training hard and 3) am I overtraining?

I guess I won’t know the answer to any of these questions right now … but its something to think about.

So this morning i had an EASY 4 miler, I mean EASY, I ran an over 10 minute mile … but it felt good to tone it down a bit, I need to recover, I really had a rough weekend. So tomorrow I kick it back up slightly before I head into the middle-week long run (still at only 10 miles) … I’m supposed to take a step-back week next week, but we’ll have to see, I really feel its too early to take another easy week …

Oh well, I’m tired, its almost bed-time … i’ll write more tomorrow.
