I wrote on Monday about how tired I was, and although I did manage to catch up on my sleep by ‘skipping’ my run on Tuesday and sleeping in (along with going to bed early, I slept from 8pm until 6am, felt good), I somehow flared up my left hip somehow on Tuesday morning, which radiated into my lower back. I wasn’t in any constant pain, but it was back to that soreness I’ve struggled with for months and months … I was able to relax on it Tuesday evening and it even felt pretty good after I slept on it overnight, but I did head out for my expected 8 miler this morning, and turned around completing only under 7 miles. It really bothered me the whole way along, flaring up after about a quarter mile … this is a concern for me. As I sit here right now and write this, it isn’t as bad as it was yesterday, and nowhere near where it was this morning. I think this is a day-to-day thing, and if it is to happen, now is the time since I am in my taper anyway, I can afford to cut back the miles if I need to.
It just always seems to figure that after I perform well, and feel comfortable and make my infamous statement ‘the body feels good’ … something happens. it just sucks. As for the stomach pain I felt on Sunday into Monday, it has subsided as well … I assume it was just a gas bubble, but I’ve been working on getting myself regulated in that sense as well. There are alot of things i’m working on right now, along with watching what i’m eating as well. I’ve been eating larger breakfasts, which is good, and unfortunately gotten myself back on ice cream, so it won’t be long until the weight starts adding up. Which isn’t a bad thing.
Anyway, I really don’t need the struggles I am having right now with Steamtown only 12 days away…. I know that if I continue to take it easy, I’ve done the training and won’t get anymore fit for the race at this point, so I won’t push it. I just need to keep myself healthy to get through the race. As I noted above, i’ll take it a day at a time, and assess it accordingly …
