I was fortunate enough to have my foot feel better by the end of last week, no pain anywhere, but after my 11+ mile run on Saturday, it started to hurt again. I’m not convinced that its that thing with my metatarsals, I think its just an inflammation of some sort. I had the name of thing that I thought it was and I lost it, but I think its going to be okay. My first concern was that it was a stress fracture, but I know thats not the case. I’m staying with the ice, the padding and elevation along with some ibuprofen, and it seems to be working okay. If I rest it enough, it usually feels fine as well.
Either way, i’m two weeks again from starting the next training cycle, so I intend to try and take it a little easier and enjoy the last two non-training weeks. I think its going to be difficult training for the Ocean Drive marathon during the holidays, but I think it will be worth it. I usually tend to put on a few pounds, but I don’t think I will this year, as long as this foot holds out.
The rest of my body feels good, its amazing what the Pilates has done for my overall strength. I can start the feel it working. Its funny how they say that I will feel a difference after 10 sessions .. well, i’m about there with 10 sessions and I can feel it. I can’t wait to have 20 done. It is actually getting easier, and I can see the difference in the way I run and the way I feel .. its pretty cool.
I ordered some of my winter clothes for running, we’ll see how they work out. I need to get a scarf type thing, and a good hat/ear protection and some gloves. What I have seems to do the trick, but I get concerned if it gets colder. On my run on Saturday, I kept putting on the hat, then taking it, and putting it on, although the course I took was kind of odd. As to be expected, it was colder by the river than it was anywhere else. When I started, I was all bundled up running along the river, then once I turned into the Ave, it warmed up, I stripped off the hat and gloves and loosened up the top layer, then back in Wyoming, I put the hat back on, and buttoned up …. I’ll get it right though .. it was kind of frosty and I was okay (about 37 degrees when I went out).
Either way, I have a few indoor days ahead even though its going to be nice out. We’re doing a disaster recovery test here at work so my days will be spent in Wilkes-Barre. Oh well, its a change of pace and we’ll see how things go I guess.
