So as I recover from the fact I won’t be attending NYC this year, the task of trying to find a second fall marathon, approx 3-6 weeks out from Steamtown is on!

I thought about doing the doing the Philadelphia marathon, but I read some of the reviews on Marathon Guide and didn’t get a good feeling on it. I had flashbacks to the OD marathon in mile 23 when the water table had nothing left, no volunteers, totally abandoned .. I guess it was good as just a marathon, but they recently added a half marathon to it, which caused problems (they didn’t allow for the growth) … so the review wasn’t good. I know there are people sometimes who give bad reviews, but the same comments were consistent across many posts .. so we’ll scratch that one.

I’m considering doing the Harrisburg marathon on 11/11 … it seems to be close enough and has pretty good reviews. Its a smaller marathon (last year there were like 300 or so participants) and isn’t a real far trip for me to make. There aren’t too many others out there in the NY, PA, NY, MD area that I would like to do ….. there was a nice one in Richmond Virginia, however thats a long drive to get there (5+ hours) and flying is outrageous. I expect to check the New England races later tonight to see if there is one out there or not that isn’t too far away … My only concern with going north in November is that it’ll be colder up there. Its already going to be cold enough in our area, so I don’t want to make it nuts!

Otherwise, my training is still going fairly well. I’m tired this week, I’m not getting enough sleep so I have to push myself to get to bed. Part of the problem is that the sun is going down SO late now (like 8:45pm) that its hard to goto sleep now, so I end up staying up later then I should, plus i’m doing alot of running around.

Anyway, tomorrow is the last day of the 6 day cycle … then a rest day on Friday, can’t wait for that. I’ll post what second fall marathon I fit in when I decide and register……
