I wanted to share this story

A very intense and successful self-made man traveled a long distance to meet with an old, wise Zen master. The man asked the Zen master to help him become enlightened.

He asked the Zen master how long it would take to become enlightened.

The Zen master told him that it would take at least 10 years.

Shocked, the man asked the Zen master, “If I work unceasingly and put all my efforts into it, how long would it take to become enlightened?’

The Zen master replied, “20 years.”

The successful man in this story approached enlightenment from the context of the “doing” that he did in his life in order to gain material success.

His theory was “if I do more of something, it will get done faster.”

But instead the Zen master was suggesting that being enlightened is not something you can just do like the other things you have done in life.

It requires you to understand your “being”.

When we are willing to change our context and find that “being”, it allows us to block out the internal noise that impedes our true hearing, listening and understanding.

And we can become enlightened at a faster rate due to the clarity that we find.

How clear are you on your path towards enlightenment?
