I’ve come to the point where its time to start the countdown to the race. I did my last ‘run’ if you can call it that today, and although my left foot/ACL is bothering me, I think its going to be fine for the race (or at least I can struggle through it). I start the carbo-loading tonight (yum, spaghetti). I am working out the last logistics for the race, like what time I’m going to be there, when/where the expo is, etc… It sucks that I have to teach on Saturday, but I plan on blowing through the material and getting done and out (i also have to give a test!).
I had a lot of stress this week that I hope is done at this point … I turned down a job offer in Virginia, because basically, I don’t want to move 500+ miles south right now, they wanted me to start on Oct 23rd, thats nuts! Either way, i’ve had a lot of decisions and adversity to face, which has taken my focus away from the marathon, which i’ve worked so hard for, so now its time to GET SERIOUS!
I don’t run tommorrow, nor Friday, and then go out for a jog on Saturday … Its hard to think that I can get through a 26.2 mile run, when I haven’t really trained hard, but thats why its called a taper, my body has now realized that training is over, so I hope I can do this. I am taking in alot of water to stay hydrated and trying not to exert myself too much. I did stay up late last night because of the major decision I had to make, but I’ll make up the sleep and pass myself out on Friday night because I KNOW I won’t sleep on Saturday night. I’m sure i’ll write again soon ….
