Its been two weeks now since the OBX marathon, and the next chapter in my training has begun. The first noticeable change is that my blog has changed in a few ways … how you might ask? Well, first I converted from b2evolution to WordPress today and then also merged the two blogs I had going back into just one. The only unfortunate part is that during this conversion I lost all the comments to my posts from the old “jokachs marathon training blog”… somehow they didn’t copy over. The other thing I lost were all my pictures that were in my posts, but I guess as long as I have the content, that makes me happy … but that leads me to other change, I’ve focused back on the reason I started this blog, which is to get my serenity … somehow it morphed into a different name over the years, but the original is back.
You might find that my RSS feed is different now than it was so if you follow me using your favorite RSS reader, click on the RSS icon at the top right corner and copy the new feed URL. There was no way i could retain the old one ..
As the title of this post states, i’ve started my off-season conditioning in preparation for next year. I’ve decided on my spring race plan which will consist of a duathlon in April, a half/full marathon and my first sprint triathlon in late May. This means I have about 9 weeks to lose weight and get myself into better shape .. which so far is going good.
My weekly schedule looks consists of 3 swim workouts, 3 interval runs, 1 cycling workout … then at least 1 “boot camp” fitness classes and at least 1 “spin” class. I can’t forget to mention that i’m doing weight training as well .. its a lot in a little bit of time, but they are not long workouts and I’m really enjoying doing something different. Running just gets so boring after awhile. Probably the biggest difference in my workouts is that i’m no longer outside running … i’m on an indoor track. Its pretty cool.
So this “boot camp” class I took for the first time totally beat me up .. it was hard to accept how out of shape I really am. This could explain why I haven’t been losing weight. All I can say is that every muscle in my body hurt last week … but everything is healed up now, just in time for another 5:15am class tomorrow morning. The “spin” class wasn’t as bad as I thought it could be .. I think I was still recovering from the boot camp which is why my legs were so sore doing spin, but we’ll see this week how it goes.
So thats really what i’ve been up to, hopefully i’ll get more blog posts in now since I found some motivation again to workout … I love the new variation in my training, its brought out something in me I haven’t felt in awhile..
that’s a bummer about the merge not going flawlessly, but at least you got the posts. glad you are enjoying the variety in workouts and not missing just-running too much 🙂 hope you had a happy thanksgiving!
