I wrote the other day how I was struggling with putting together a training plan, but I think I have found one that mixes all the components together that i’m looking for. Its based on the way I’ve trained before, namely building mileage slowly by doing a monday recovery run, 2 mid-long runs tuesday and wednesday and then lastly to wrap the week up with speed work on Thursdays. My long runs of course are on Saturday followed by a mid-long on Sunday … i’m not sure how my body will react to it, but i’m hopeful that it will be just fine.

The goal in building my training was to ensure I have enough rest time, and that it fits my schedule. The problem I have sometimes is that I just don’t have enough hours in the day (or i’m tired) and I fall off the training wagon, so I hope this is achievable.

I’ve also dumped updating my twitter account, its too much to maintain .. I can’t keep up with my blog and tracking my training let along trying to update that too. It was a nice thought, but just that, a thought.

So I am excited about the start of formal training again, i’ve been kind of craving it, so it will be good to see the end result. I’ve been relaxing a little too much the last few months, so its time to get serious. I’ve committed to eating better, sleeping and not taking on too much stress during the training and to be flexible (both with my runs and my courses). I realize that there will be pain and possible injuries along the way (hopefully not too serious), but I know thats what make you stronger as a runner.. my biggest question is where i’ll run my speed work at. I might just run around my development, there is a 1/2 mile loop and its pretty flat (although the neighbors will think i’m nuts) .. well, i think they thing i’m nuts already, so I shouldn’t worry about that….

No running today … taking it off and enjoying the rest. Training starts Monday …
