I was able to get outside today, although it was a little cool, but I was impressed with the new gear that I purchased recently. I’ve been on the treadmill for the past week, with a week off before that, so its been awhile since i’ve been out, and let me tell you, the gear I bought is great. I never thought i’d wear running tights, but they are the most comfortable thing I ever wore, plus the ones I bought, the Hind men’s arctic drylete tight from National Running Center, kept me 100% warm. Even in the blowing cold wind (when my face was frozen), I felt no breeze on my legs. They are awesome. That along with the Hind men’s arctive drylete sport top, really made the difference. Now I can see that the only places I am cold is my face and my hands … we’ll have to get something for them. I guess in some sense, I’ve never worn tights, nor have I had a good top, so maybe in comparison to something else, they may not be the best, but in my eyes they are. They cost me a good chunk of change (in comparison), but buying Hind equipment has worked well for me so far, so I’ll keep it up. I’m also not the type of person that is into the whole ‘image’ of running, and having to have brand-name, top of the line equipment, but I do think that the right equipment does make the difference. I look like much more of a runner now than I did 2 years ago (going out in basketball shorts, a long sleeve t-shirt and baseball hat) …

As far as my back is concerned, I’m feeling confident that the worst of my injury are now over. I’ve ran successfully for the past week, at different lengths and different intensities, and have had no problem. Its still not reason for me to celebrate, but it does mean that I can make this coming week of running a little bit more like the first training week, so I can be prepared.

My biggest concern right now is my weight and diet, with the holiday season in full swing, the next weeks will be very hard on my diet between the parties, treats, etc, etc that the holiday does bring, but I hope to make it through.

Anyway, if you’re looking for good running equipment for the cold weather, I recommend the Hind stuff mentioned above, its worth the extra dollars…
