I managed to survive through 53 miles this week, in week 6 of training for Steamtown. I can’t say my body is in great shape right now, i’m awful sore, and tired, and will enjoy toning it down just a bit this week. Currently I have no lingering injury of any sort, although my calves are terribly sore and my back occasionally is sore depending on what i’m doing. Probably the biggest thing I need to work on catching up on my sleep a bit, although I am scheduled to go to the beach this weekend. That will tire me out a bit, but overall I should be okay.
Probably the second biggest thing I need to work on is my attitude and dedication for the fall marathons. I’m at that point (1/3 through) that my motivation isn’t what it was a few weeks back, i’m not sure why. I know this is generally a phase thing I go through, but I intend to look back to March in the blog and see what I wrote when I didn’t have a good experience at the Ocean Drive. I know just refocusing a bit is all that I need to get back on track. Despite the high mileage, I even find that my weight isn’t what it should be either … i am afraid to get on the scale, and although I haven’t been eating anything specifically bad (like I was in Feb/Mar), I’m not tracking what I eat. Actually, i’m bored with what I eat, I really need new food. I think my body is telling me its time for change.
So I intend to enjoy sleeping a little later this week and enjoying a monday off for a change, i’m sure I’ll write tomorrow from work sometime. And btw, thanks to everyone who emailed me or commented on my escapade on Wednesday. I didn’t mention in my post that I do use http://www.gmap-pedometer.com for building my courses, I just did a lazy thing and only mapped out parts of it .. so I cacluated them a couple pieces at a time, then added them together, I just didn’t do it right .. oh well, I can laugh at that, and laugh at my experience yesterday. its bee a long week …
