It would be like me to NOT run on a holiday, so I was sure to get in a good run this morning. I did a 10 mile speed workout on a fairly flat course. I felt good for most of it, my upper back started to bother me a bit towards the end, not sure why. Its not enough to keep me from running, but I certainly aggravated it between yesterday and today. Even when I got up this morning, it wasn’t quite as great as its been, but I went out anyway.
I was impressed that I kept an under 9 minute mile pace for the entire run, completing it in 1 hour and 26 minutes and a few seconds. Not bad. So thats 30 miles in 20 days and feeling pretty good. My legs are tired and sore, and of course my upper back is sore as well. I’m just not sure what this upper back pain is … I thought I pulled a muscle, but it doesn’t seem like that, because it should be fairly healed by now (or maybe not since I am aggravating it). I expect to take tomorrow off from working out to heal up … I have one more tough week (like this past week) to go until i start a formal taper for both the half marathon and then ultimately the marathon in a few weeks …
I also feel better about eating like a pig today since I worked out so hard this weekend … that always puts my mind at ease …. 🙂
