I didn’t get a chance to comment yesterday, but I had one of the best runs i’ve had in a long time yesterday. Its weird that these great runs come the day after the longest run i’ve done since September of last year. I actually felt the pace, I felt the road, felt my legs doing its job. Its that feeling of euphoria you get when running. I was doing 8 miles at pace, which I did do (actually just under my original pace), and halfway down Demunds road, I felt it. It was awesome.
I have no doubt found my rhythm once again after many months of inconsistencies, etc. I am sore today from the weekend, but consider that I did as many miles this weekend as I did in most full weeks during this training. Its been a change.
I’m starting to gear up for race day, considering what i’m eating and what i’m doing in my off-time. I’m planning the trip and intend to ENJOY my time down the jersey beaches by cancelling my class that weekend. I’ve invited my step-daughter and her fiance to come with us, so that the family can watch me run the race .. it should be great.
One last kind of tough week (intensity wise), although i’ll ramp the miles down somewhat just to be safe. Today is a well needed rest day, although I again have the feeling that I just don’t want to stop and just keep going. Its great. For anyone that knows and loves running, you know the feelings i am having right now!
I have to watch out a little though, I am feeling the effects of some slight tendinitis in both my left and right Achilles again … don’t want to go through another race with Achilles tendinitis! I’m doing some light stretching on it and keeping it limber and iced … thats the best thing to do!
