So I’ve completed the second week of training for Steamtown, I think things are pretty good so far. The Fairfield Half Marathon in Connecticut is this weekend, so its actually a stepback week for me. I got up to 43 miles this week, which is pretty good since i’m only in week two, but next week will be considerably less (less than 40).

My long run yesterday was another brutal one, good course (different), but definitely difficult. I do think that in the long run, doing this hill work during my long runs will help me, it just sucks while i’m doing it. I don’t intend to keep the hill stuff up as I get over 18-20 miles (i’m only at 16 right now).

I believe I have decided to do the Harriburg marathon in the fall as my second marathon, I intend to register today for it. I contemplated doing one in Rhode Island, but I think the trip is too much to do along with the marathon .. plus i worry about the weather because going north in November would be rough. I know how cold it gets here during November, god knows how bad it would be up north ……. I’ll write about my final conclusion later on.

I’m just trying to rest up a little bit this week, its been a tough bunch of weeks since I finished the marathon in May. I never really took it easy like maybe I should have and jumped back into training … but I feel good, the weather is great, so why not. I should enjoy it while I can.

I got the first email from the Steamtown Marathon today indicating we’ve hit 500 entrants for the race … they expect to break their record this year if the pace keeps up the way it does ……. its hard to believe theres only 16 weeks to go until Steamtown!
