I got the opportunity to run outside again for the first time since the Outer Banks marathons in November. I’ve just been so busy doing indoor training and cross-training, and not to mention the fact its been freezing outside here in the northeast. It was great to get out and enjoy the sunshine, although it was a bit chilly yesterday but today it was in the mid 50’s when I headed out for a couple miles. I seem to enjoy it so much more because I headed out today because I wanted to, not because I had to. I already swam 950m this morning, which was supposed to be my only workout, but I couldn’t resist the weather.
My abdominal muscle that I strained seems to have settled down, I can’t even feel it anymore although I’ll refrain from doing pull-ups tomorrow morning anyway. This week will be 2 high intensity workouts, at least 1 spin class (maybe 2) and the normal swim and run routines. I’m going to do week 1 of the zero to 750m plan again because i’m just not confident enough yet to make it to week two. I think my swimming is coming along though, however I do think I need to warm up more before I decide to start doing 100m laps.. it’ll all come with time.
I’m hoping that i’m holding my weight well through the holiday season, just under 3 weeks to go until the holiday season is over. I feel like i’m in better shape now though because the pace I was running at when I ran outside yesterday and today was considerably faster than its ever been. Take into account though that I was doing short distances. I guess i’ll take what I can get though, maybe this cross-training stuff really works…
Well, off to rest to prepare for two days of hard workouts …
