Its been a few days now since I posted, for anybody that is following me and my struggles. I managed to get through the weekend running, doing 7.25 miles on Saturday and 4 on Sunday, and not causing any pain. I got back into it again today after a light crosstrain day yesterday and did 4 miles, it felt pretty good as well. I’m still only running about 75% of the speed that I was, but I think thats okay.

I changed my outlook on the upcoming marathon, and that is to not worry about my time and just enjoy the run. I know for a fact that I will not be training with the intensity that I need to so that I can finish fast, so I just have to go with it. I’m looking forward to the course, it is scenic, and based on the way the weather has been, i’m not sure its going to be too cold either. I ditched the idea of running a second marathon in late April, at least for now, until I can be sure that I won’t cause myself more injury. Really the goal right now is to finish the Ocean Drive marathon, regardless of the time.

My training will change a little bit starting next week or so when I move to morning workouts. I am changing employment at the end of the month and have to get set on my times and my routine prior to starting the job. I’m also doing some contract work on the side with a local company, which is taking up more time, but the money is good. This also contributes to why I won’t be training as hard as I could be. I just don’t have the time. If you think about the contracting, the new job, plus teaching, its a full plate.

We’ll hope to get 6 miles in tomorrow, then ease it off with 4 again on Thursday. Maybe, just maybe we can get 10-11 miles in Saturday, we have to see how I feel I guess. I have been doing well not pushing it, so if I continue this way, I should be able to make it.
