dealing with the back pain

I enjoyed my day off yesterday from doing anything, although I am craving running more and more now with the mileage increase. I still have to report that my upper back is probably more sore this week than it was last week (although its moving from being a sharp pain, to being more of an ache). It seems worse when I get up in the morning, its awful, but as I stretch it out, it seems to get better.

For example, yesterday morning I got up, it was sore and all, and it ended up feeling great by lunchtime, by doing nothing more than sitting in my chair at work all day (remember, no workout yesterday). It was fine all night too, even when I got up to work at 11:15pm, but then when I really slept on it and got up at 4:45am this morning for my run, it was sore as hell again. I was seriously concerned. I stayed inside, in a controlled environment on the YMCA treadmill, just in case the pain was that bad. I was scheduled to do 5 miles, and I was actually only going to do 4 miles like last Tuesday (cuz I enjoyed that), but made it to 4.65 miles before having to call it a morning and get to work (just ran out of time, had to hit the shower by 6:20am or I would be late for work). Surprisingly, I walked away from the run in better shape (back-wise) than I did when I started. No issue at all. Its still a little sore, but isn’t as bad as it was. Tomorrow is the big one though, gotta try to get 10 miles in (will probably go after work if the weather holds up) …

I’m getting swarmed with emails from the Lehigh Valley half-marathon people, seems its going to be a great weekend down there. I intend to try and partake in some of the events this year since its such a gala festival. Hopefully the family will want to attend as well.

Gotta run though (ha ha) ..
