I had another great run this morning during my 12 miler, although it was probably the first cooler morning i’ve come across this year. The air temperature wasn’t too bad, but there was a pretty good breeze the entire time, and once I got sweaty, it got a little cold, but not too bad. I have to remember that the fall/winter season offers these temperatures and conditions and that summer is over.
Surprisingly, I hit a pretty good pace for this run as well. I did it in 1:41, with a 6 mile split of around 50 minutes, which is really great. Thats just over an 8 minute mile, and I wasn’t even trying to go fast. I found myself in that ‘zone’ again where I was just running subconciously, and i really feel that I am getting into my peak once again, which is about the right time to get into it. I have another week and half of tough running before I start the taper for Steamtown, its hard to think that times here already.
On another ‘time’ related note, I got the mailing from the “Run for the Diamonds” for the race again this year. It again made me realize how close we are getting to the fall races. The days of summer are over and fall is quickly approaching, again, once I taper for Steamtown, its going to be right into ramping up miles again for Harrisburg, and then off to the Diamonds, and then the seasons over … wow. I’m still planning on changing gears a bit and looking towards triathlons next year, so I certainly welcome the change.
I don’t generally write two days in a row, but it was a good morning. It was also a very clear morning, and a beautiful sunrise …. these are the days I love, I don’t get too many of them anymore.
