concerned about my foot

I was able to get some rest and had a good run this morning (6+ miler), so things are going well for the most part. The soreness I had in my upper calves seems to have gone away as well … I did feel my right foot last evening and felt a little pain in front of my ankle. Nothing major, but still enough to say, “hey, thats slightly painful, wonder what it is?”

In case i’ve never written about it before, I have these things on the top of my feet above my ankles that I feel are just bone spurs from the constant abuse of running … nothing to worry about. they seem like big masses that are jolting out, and have never really caused me any pain. The pain I felt last night in my foot had nothing to do with them, just thought i’d mention them.

So I was concerned about this mornings run, and how my foot would react, and surprisingly, it didn’t bother me at all, I totally forgot about it.

I then go to take my shower before work and after my run, and it appears to be slightly bruised in the spot that hurt, well, I dunno if its really bruised or not, I can’t tell, but something doesn’t seem right. I seem to be obsessing on it, which I tend to do, which I don’t think is making anything any better … so of course I google around for ‘bruised foot running’ and I find some pages telling me that if I’m seeing a bruise of any sort that it definitely had some sort of trauma. I know for a fact I never felt like it snapped, or broke or anything, so unless its a stress fracture, I don’t know. Even in looking up a stress fracture, it would be much more painful to the touch than it is ….

I imagine that I am just making more of it than I should … i’m thinking that I may have even had my shoes tied too tight over the weekend during my runs. I also put extra effort into walking around the zoo this weekend as well, I may have bumped it or something and not even realized it.

Its something to keep my eye on, just another hurdle to get over. I just hope it doesn’t get any worse and doesn’t interrupt my running, but we’ll have to wait and see.
