I returned to light crosstraining yesterday, by riding the bike for 15 minutes and doing the CC machine for a few minutes. I also started walking on Friday, by doing a half mile around the house here. I increased from Friday to Saturday and now from Saturday to Sunday. I got 15 minutes on the bike today along with 20 on the CC machine. I will probably walk 2 miles today. I walked just over a mile yesterday yesterday, so I want to do a little more. I’ll probably rest tomorrow, but we’ll see (i always say that I guess).
I changed my outlook on the marathon with all the recent injuries, I’m thinking that the ocean drive marathon will become a training run in preparation for the Long Branch marathon which runs 5 weeks later. I can get a 14 week training in with about 3 weeks of continued rest here if I take this route. I just don’t think that training hard for Ocean Drive is the best way to go right now, for whatever reason, it just isn’t realistic.
Overall I am feeling pretty good. I actually woke up this morning without any pain and was able to move around pretty good. I’m still doing the treatments (cold/hot), plus moving around a lot, i’m just not running. I have to take a break. It appears that I am still crooked, although I’m not sure. My chiropractor told me once that I was naturally crooked, which I think is what I’m seeing. I usually know if i’m crooked, because of the pain, and its just not there. My back muscles are sore and tight, which means i’m strengthening them well, because I do feel a weakness on my right leg due to the injury.
I’m redeveloping the training plan as needed here, and hope to start it on 1/22/07 … its new years eve and I will miss the Bloomsburg run tonight, i’m just not healthy enough to run it at this point and i risk injuring myself more by trying it. Thats okay though, I’ll continue the quality family time i’ve had with my family.
happy new year!
