I really rocked this morning doing my 6-miler in the dark and in the humidity …. I started slow again like I did on Tuesday, but really kicked it up as I turned the corner and hit the hill on center street. It might be something to do with the fact i’m listening to music this week instead of talk (usually I listen to the recorded Howard Stern show from the day before) … regardless, doing that 6 mile course in under 52 minute is pretty impressive since half the course is uphill.
Like I mentioned yesterday, it definitely is time for another stepback week. i’ve been going hard now for three straight weeks with another 20-21 miler up this weekend. Its not supposed to be as hot as it has been in subsequent weekends, so I’m hoping it won’t be as brutal, plus i’m taking steps to keep myself hydrated during the process as well.
I had to work late last night, and again overnight, so I only got about 6 hours of sleep and am starting to drag a little. I can sleep in tomorrow and hopefully goto bed early tonight to make up some of the rest. I don’t have alot planned this weekend, but then again, I never have much planned and always end up doing so much.
My weight seems to be under control, i’m finding that just by nature i’m eating less than I was before .. it just takes time to shrink the stomach down and get it used to drinking water. I’m almost to the point where I can stop cutting calories back and just maintaining my weight. Its hard to think that Steamtown is just over 8 weeks away. Wow, the summer really went fast. I have to remember to call and get my hotel reservation for the Harrisburg marathon in November. That’ll be here before I know it also … thats like the last hoorah for the season before the Diamond Run on Thanksgiving.
I’ll be heading up to National Running Center tomorrow at lunch-time for new shoes and some other things … these shoes should take me to just before the marathon, when i’ll get new ones again and keep the old ones for training between the marathons. I’m going to check out the fuel belts and of course I need Body Glide, I use that stuff like its going out of style.
Oh well, thats about it for now, gonna enjoy resting today and tomorrow in prep for my long run this weekend …
