I survived my killer weekend somehow, it was brutal, but I did it. I got up at before 5 on Saturday morning to run my 14 mile ‘long’ run for the stepback week, and did it in pretty good time, although it was terribly hot. I said to myself that its good thing that I didn’t have a 20 miler this weekend, because I would have died again… next weekend won’t be quite so hot, so thats a good thing. So anyway, I got the run in and got home, and decided to tell my class (the night before) that we would start at 8:30 instead of 8, worked out great, because I got my run, my shower and on my way and there by 8:20 … worked great! The only issue was that I was tired, real tired .. and my legs, they were baked. I technically stood for 5 more hours on hard concrete teaching, talking and didn’t do two things properly. First, I didn’t take in enough fluids for the day, and second, I didn’t eat. So I think it affected me overall …(we’ll get to that later).
So after finally getting caught up on my life by 6pm on Saturday, I slept decently and actually slept in until 6am on Sunday (no run) .. felt good, went and did my teaching, then came home and laid on the couch. It felt great.
Today I picked the training back up again with a 4 miler, which i did in decent time. Took an old route I used to do and haven’t do in awhile, its nice to break it up a bit. The big issue right now is that my Stiletto stopped working … well, the satellite stopped working I should say. I won’t be able to record my normal material all week, although I should still be able to listen to my library while I run, so i’ll be okay. (i just like to listen to howard stern recorded when I run in the mornings, oh well!)
Well, i’ve got tons to do, things should get back to normal until next week when i travel again, we’ll see how that goes!
