I got back on the road again today by getting 15 miles in at my regular running pace. It was a decent run after a week of recovery even though it was VERY windy out. The wind didn’t really bother me much until I got all sweated up… then it got kind of cold.
I’ve only got 4 weeks to go at this point until the Outer Banks Marathon on November 14th. I’ve got 2 weeks to do “some” training, then a 2 week taper to wrap up the season. My focus has started to turn to triathlons already, but I feel that this additional training can only help my running. My goal is to lose a few pounds before the race, to hopefully make the run a little easier.
I took some time this past week to check out the OBX course, and with the exception of 2 hills (one being the Washington-Baum Bridge, which is a 4% grade incline to 650ft from sea level) .. the course is basically flat. I’m kind of happy for that since with the weather changing, its getting hardwe to train “hard” and stay focused. I’m struggling at this point with adding in the resistance training and swimming, it makes for a long day, but i’m enjoying it. I expect to be leaner and meaner once the spring comes, so stay tuned.
