I can always tell its been a busy week when I don’t get the chance to write in my blog, but finally (early on a Friday when I should be sleeping), I have time to write. My insomnia has returned in some form over the past 2 weeks, in that I find myself waking up 2 hours earlier than my alarm, and then I just lay there, unable to fall asleep again. It could be a lot of thing but does effect my running .. it seems to come and go for a couple weeks, and i’m thinking its probably stress related. I never liked taking the over-the-counter sleep aids, i always end up with a hang-over of sorts the next morning, so I stopped taking them, I just hope it goes away on its own…

So I managed to tear open another toe on Monday when I was out running again .. same issue, different foot (this time i’ll spare everyone the picture). You’d think that I would learn from the first time to trim down my toenails (not that their long or anything) … I guess i’m just not used to actually “having” toenails, usually they’re either black, or falling off, or just overall not healthy and never actually grow. That was how I started the week … since then its been quiet. My friendly weather people are convinced that its supposed to be warming up today into tomorrow (well, warm for January) .. it looks hopeful, but i’m not going to hold my breath.

This weekend I have a stepback weekend scheduled since I have to be available for work .. but I may stray from that. Stepback in my opinion is doing 13-14 miles for a long run and a shorter Sunday distance than the normal 8-10 miles … I really do feel its too early to take a stepback week, I haven’t really earned it yet. It figures that the nicest weather weekend in about a month and a half is the one I can’t get a good long run in (hence the reason I might bag the stepback).

Some other highlights this week … i’m without my car, I had to take it to the body shop to get it repaired from when I was rear-ended back on Christmas Eve … fun. Thankfully I have no expense as a reult of it since it was the other drivers fault. Nobody was hurt, damage was minor and I got a rental car to get me through, but its not my car … I also got summoned for jury duty in March, great. I guess I need to do my public duty and show up. I’ve actually never been on jury duty before (believe it or not), so I don’t know what to expect, but everyone i’ve talked to didn’t have good things to say about it.

Well, i’m going to try to fall back to sleep now .. my Friday mornings are supposed to be for sleeping in since I don’t run on Fridays, but it never seems to work out that way (damm insomnia).
