After two treatments from the chiro for the Achilles tendonitis, the pain seems to be all but gone. I did get out for 8 miles today, kind of easy, but I have no pain afterward … I think I had some phantom pains while I was running, but it never bothered me. I also didn’t get that strange ‘pain’ in the side of my foot, so I think the days off after the marathon have really paid off.
I intend to crosstrain tomorrow and then pickup with 4 days in a row next week again in preperation for the Diamond run on Thanksgiving. The schedule I am following is not too intense, as I would rather avoid injury prior to training for the ODMarathon. My time for the Diamond run isn’t so important, I just like the race for the experience … it was the first ‘BIG’ one for me, so i’ll never forget it.
I’ve gotten back to my good eating habits again today, or at least I intend to. I did let myself go with my food selections the last few days (krispy kremes, pizza, wings, ben&jerrys ice cream, etc), so its now time to put that behind me and move on.
Its interesting how I’ve now learned that its important to rest when i’m not training, unlike in the pre-summer training where I was running and running and running hard before training. I realize how hard it is to run when I need to, so why stress myself before I have to. I am doing Pfitz’s 18/55 plan from the Advanced Marathoning book for the spring marathons, with his suggestion for multiple marathons after the first one. I did modify the training a bit to allow for an additional 20+ miler, I think the endurance is important for me and I know I did it in the past, so I should be able to do it again.
OD marathon …… HERE I COME!!!!!
