a good week so far

I’ve been slowly gearing myself up for the first 20-miler this weekend, its actually been a real great week of running. I’ve had no significant pain anywhere (outside regular aches and pains), and although my back was a little sore from sleeping the other night, I feel good. these shorter distances are starting to feel like nothing now with the long distances behind me. I’m eager to get into a recovery week so I can rest and sleep in a little, and believe it or not, the Swanzey Covered bridge Half-Marathon is only a week and half away … although I feel good, the concept is to test my pace at a longer distance with the race-day feel of having competition and all that.

I worked to plot out an easier 20-mile course this weekend, with the concept being that I want to make this first 20-miler a good experience. I decided to run the distance of the dyke in Kingston, to Edwardsville, all the way to Pittston and then back to Kingston via Forty Fort. There aren’t many hills or inclines, so I imagine I should do quite well on it. My weight is staying kind of stable, which is okay, i’m still having cravings, but not as bad as I did. I do have some stresses in life right now (especially work) which are making it hard to concentrate on running, but I hope that I can overcome them. We’ve come too far now.

I plan on putting together the final piece of the blog here, which will be pictures of me running and pictures of me at different points in the training, although I have to crop the pictures to get my ugly head of them (I have too many enemies in this world unfortunately). I already have them out there, but they’re HIDDEN!!! 🙂

I hope to report after the weekend that I survived the experience of 30 MILES in one weekend …. I know i’ll make it, just not sure how i’ll feel!
