I wrote the other day that I had concerns about my knee being sore, and although its still a little sore, I don’t think its a big deal. I’m finding that a lot of muscles and parts of my legs are much more sore then they have been, probably due to the increased mileage and stress I’ve been putting on them. I cranked out a couple good 10 milers and a good speed workout already this week and am seriously ready to just relax today.
The hope is that tomorrows long run can be as good as last weeks, if not better. I feel my body getting into better shape now, both physically and aerobically and I think that I got over the donation of double red blood cells … we’ll never do that again! I wrote how I was taking protein shakes again, but have since stopped since I really feel that they contribute to the fact I couldn’t lose weight. My weight (which I just checked) is down to 196 now, so i’m heading the right direction, even my hunger has changed, i’m not as hungry as I used to be (although I do crave carbs).
So I think things are looking good for heading into the 6th week of training ..
I wrote about my running schedule and how boring it is, well its even gotten worse. I love the fact that the sun comes up so early in the morning now (compared to the winter time), so now I can get out even earlier to get my runs in. I find that I now get up by 5am (even earlier on some days) and am out on the road (for a 10 miler) by 5:15am. These days a 10 miler is taking about an hour and 20 minutes, so I get back just in time to pack my lunch (which I make the night before now) and grab a quick bite to eat before showering and heading out to work at 7:15… seems to work pretty good, i’m used of the compressed schedule. I remember writing about the struggle I was having getting up early and sitting around and not getting motivated, but its not an issue now. I just realized also that the first day of summer is on Sunday … thats great, this is the best running time of the year (in my opinion)!
There is one distruption next week though, I have to get an ultrasound Tuesday morning at 8:45, I guess my liver function test enzymes came back a little high again … hope its nothing serious, although I still state that the doctor told me its slightly high, and if you think about the muscle breakdown I cause with all this running, I’m really not concerned. Hopefully we can put this thing to bed finally…
Well off to rest for another day, another long weekend of running is ahead…
