Its been a busy couple of days, and I haven’t had a chance to post at all but have finally made some time to get it done. I completed my last real long mid-week run today of 12 miles and as I wrote in the headline .. its all tapering from here.. I expect to get my last speed work session in tomorrow morning before heading into an easy 9 days of running before the Philly marathon on November 22nd.
This week has reassured me that I still have the potential to have a good race on the 22nd. I managed to get my 10 miler and 12 miler in at almost a 8:30/mile pace, which is up significantly from 2 weeks ago post-back injury. I’m glad I was able to recover and can now continue to heal whatever part of that injury still remains. I certainly don’t expect to PR, nor have an excellent finish time, but I plan to finish strong, regardless of the time.
The good part is that the race is now just about 10 days out, which means I can start stressing out about the weather by watching the 10-day outlook. The weather looks like rain and a start temperature of 42 degrees, but we all know how the weather works. That will change 15 times before race day… I also took the time to check out the distance I have to drive on Thanksgiving morning to do the Run for the Diamonds. I’ve always run that race in the past, but never since I moved south, and I found its quite a drive .. but probably worth it. If you consider that course is just a 9 mile hill run, it shouldn’t be terrible because I’ll have completed a marathon just 4 days earlier..
Anyway, the weather has been holding out so far, this morning it was showering, but at around 50 degrees. Today was probably the warmest day of the week since its expected to be back in the 30’s for tomorrow and throughout the weekend.
It doesn’t feel like there is much more to write about .. I think i’ve written it about it all since I started this training cycle in May. I’ve never been lost for words, but I think I am? Hmm…
