I realized that I’m supposed to be doing a short taper before the Lehigh Valley Health Network Marathon next Sunday, and found out that I still ran 65 miles this past week. I kind of knew I would have trouble cutting the miles back, but I really need to focus on trying to cut back a little bit at least. I’ve got 57 miles scheduled this week (including the marathon), which is still probably too much, but with the Baltimore marathon only 5 weeks away, I have to maintain my miles one way or another ..

So I talked about keeping up the intensity since the long runs are now behind me (at least for now) .. and I think I did a good job with it today. I knocked out 14 miles at an 8:00/mile pace (1 hour 52), even with some pretty good hills .. even yesterday I did 12 miles at around the same pace (1 hour 37 minutes). The result of kicking up the intensity is that it’s really pumped me up for next weekend, I just hope I can keep it up for another week.

Not too much more to write, i’ve about said it all .. we’re in the final countdown until the first fall marathon, I can’t wait …
