I seem to be getting regular emails now from the Baltimore marathon folks, reminding us of the important highlights of the race. My family will be traveling with me next weekend to Baltimore as we expect to visit the aquarium and the whole inner harbor the day before the marathon. I do have to be careful though to not overdo it the day before the marathon … I made that mistake a few years back when I ran the Ocean Drive marathon .. I just had too much fun the day before and was wiped out for the marathon. We can’t let that happen. But the countdown is on now for the race, just 12 days out now. I’m almost to the point where I can check the 10-day forecast for the race. As of now, the morning temps are still in the mid to upper 50’s and daytime temps in the low 70’s, I don’t think I have to worry.

So the last couple days have been quite wacky when it comes to the weather … last Thursday I was dying of the heat and humidity, Saturday it was cold, Sunday it rained and today .. believe it or not, was just perfect. Tomorrow its going to be windy and then cooler the rest of the week. I’m not sure whats up with this weather, but i’m certainly getting experience running in all these different conditions. Its not a bad thing because you never know what race day will look like, as much as you want it to be nice, there are no guarantees or promises.

I was able to get another good hill run on Sunday even though it rained, knocking out 12 miles (5 miles up, 5 miles down, 2 miles flat) .. it was actually easier than last week, hopefully thats a good sign. That combined with my good 22 miler on Saturday made for a great weekend… I just need a few more days of good running before we start tapering yet again.

With Baltimore so close, I need to start thinking Philly Marathon soon. This stretch will be more of a struggle because the mornings will be getting colder and the body is starting to get tired. Believe it or not, we’ve been training for just over 20 weeks now and after the Baltimore Marathon is down next weekend, I have another 6 weeks until the last marathon of the season. It’ll seem like forever.

Well, gotta get a snack and get my stuff ready for my morning run …
