I wrote on Monday how in the final 2 miles of the Forty Fort 5-Miler, I had pain in my hamstring. I decided that even though this week was supposed to be a pre-training week, we’ll take it easy because of the hammy. I only crosstrained on Tuesday, lifted on Wednesday and ran my first 2 miles since Monday on Thursday (and also rode the bike). It was a struggle to get those 2 miles in. There is no “major pain”, just very tight, and I’m getting scared that my hamstring is not going to be the same moving forward. I can’t seem to get it stretched out.
My goal today (being Friday) is to run on it again, a little further because I think I can. I might be inside due to the rain, but I’m learning how to modify things for when I am injured. I think if I would’ve came out of the shoot on Tuesday and ran real hard, I would be out of commission. At this point, I’m taking it easy, using ibuprofen, blu emu rub, heat whenever I can and resting it. I bought a new compression wrap to use during the run today, we’ll see how that works out for us.
Its going to be a long road to Steamtown, especially since I’m starting out so banged up. I am supposed to run a half marathon at the end of the month (25th), but I guess we’ll see about that. I have only done 1 longer run in the past two weeks and don’t expect to get one in this weekend either (although it will depend).
*sigh*
This is tough.
