I made it through the first tough weekend of the training, having to do a 6 mile pace run on Saturday and a 13 mile long run on Sunday. Hal’s training program mentions that I need to assess myself after the long run to see if i’m exhausted or not, so that I can tell if I kept my pace or not. Surprisingly, I did it at about a 10:15/mile pace and was not exhausted. I mean, I was tired no doubt, but not wiped out. I was able to take my gatorade, and then eat and feel fine. I actually did some house-work after it, so I know it didn’t wipe me out.
I did have some soreness in my hips though (both sides), right where it meets the joint (basically in my ass-bones 🙂 ). Its slowly subsiding and I did get on the bike for 6 miles today and did some elliptical as well. I also lifted weights as well. Things seem to be going fairly well.
I intend to run Bernie’s Memorial tomorrow, on the fourth of July, because I would like to get one more competitive run in before the triathlon. I don’t plan on PR’ing or running faster than i should, because I don’t want to hurt myself like I did on Memorial Day. I just fear not racing for more than 2 months before the triathlon … I’d like to get one in.
