I needed that race today

I successfully completed the Bernies Memorial Run (3-miler) today, It helped me build confidence back that I can race. I really took it hard when I hurt myself back on Memorial Day, and felt that I would never be able to run like I did. I managed to pull a 21:30, placing 103 out of somewhere over 250 runners (officials results aren’t in yet, i’ll post it when they are). I maintained a 7:15 mile for the last two miles of the race, and worked on pacing myself. I felt myself running too fast in the beginning (which I was), but I was able to slow it down a bit, split times are:

Mile 1 – 7:01
Mile 2 – 7:18
Mile 3 – 7:11

I really took a chance at hurting myself again, but I was sure to stretch adquately, and warm-up as well. I knew when to push myself and when not to. I think I learned my lesson and now I know that I can run without hurting myself. It was a great turnout for a 4th of July race, although the weather could’ve been better. It was cloudy with a few sprinkle, but VERY warm (again, it is July!)
