no pain? Come on now …

I wrote and complained about being injured and being injured, etc, etc on Monday and it turns out that my Tuesday morning run yielded no pain whatsoever. My hammy was tight, but didn’t hurt, and actually after running a few miles, it loosened it up. It didn’t hurt afterward either.

It felt so good that I had no issue on my 10 miler this morning (at 5:10am). Yep, it was DARK when I started out. I did run it at about a 9:30/mile, so thats not too bad and I didn’t incur any pains I didn’t already have. My left hammy is tweaking a little here and there … (you know that odd feeling that makes you want to rub it), but there is no pain. I think its just the muscle acting up. I wonder how it will feel after the weekend.

I hate to think that I’m constantly complaining about being injured, but it really gets to me that I follow what I should and this is the result. So far, its been a great experience in doing this training, but I think the reason things are so rough right now are because I am in the part of the training that I never did before. In all my other training plans, week 11 was a taper week, whereas I’m still gaining mileage. In other programs, the max miles were 42-44 miles, whereas I’m not averaging 44 miles a week. I’m also running longer distances, so I guess I have to realize that just those differences in themselves are enough to make me more sore, but I think in the long run I will be okay (no pun intended).

Either way, an easy run is up tomorrow, followed by a well-deserved rest day on Friday, then the fateful 19-miler on Saturday followed by a 9-miler on Sunday (at pace) … *sigh* its going to be rough, but I’m almost there!
